GitHub, the company behind GitHub Copilot, was originally founded in 2008 by Tom Preston-Werner, Chris Wanstrath, P.J. Hyett, and Scott Chacon under the name Logical Awesome LLC. It serves as an internet hosting service for software development and version control using Git. GitHub rapidly grew to become one of the largest code hosts in the world, attracting millions of developers.
